SkillsRI offers job search support, career enhancement services, and free training program opportunities to unemployed and underemployed Rhode Island residents.
This summer, make a difference in the lives of Rhode Island youth by becoming a volunteer mentor or coach in the 2021 Innovation Challenge, a virtual high school internship experience.
We’re asking for 1-2 hours of time from local community and business leaders who can support interns over the course of the summer internship.

Engaging PrepareRI interns allows employers to help shape the pipeline of future talent in Rhode Island.
High school and college interns complete rigorous, employer-driven work-readiness training prior to the start of their internship. SkillsRI has a robust “matching process” that connects students with internship opportunities that align with their future career interests.
PrepareRI allows for employers, schools and students to make meaningful connections for student learning in high school, college and beyond.
Skills for Rhode Island’s Future (SkillsRI) has designed an “employability framework” which sets the expectations for student learning. This framework was built from nationally researched best practices and Rhode Island based employer focus groups.
Skills for Rhode Island’s Future is the employer of record for all interns to reduce liabilities and risks employers may have by hosting or engaging with interns.
“Creates industry and career awareness for our young adults. Enables our business to leverage new talent and experience to advance ideas/projects.”
“We were able to bring in a different cultural perspective through this intern. She brought some cultural insight to the place.”
“We were very pleased with this experience. We would love to participate in future Prepare RI internships. Having experienced the internship, we have a better understanding of the many areas that we can offer opportunities.”
