As a SkillsRI AmeriCorps Fellow, you’ll work with local nonprofits, small businesses and schools to strengthen Rhode Island communities through hands-on service and capacity-building projects. Along the way, you’ll gain professional experience, develop leadership skills, and expand your network through ongoing training and mentorship.
Choose a Fellowship Track Aligned with Your Goals:
- Small Business Hub Economic Mobility Fellowship: Strengthen organizations serving Rhode Island’s most under-resourced communities through meaningful capacity-building projects.
- PrepareRI Fellowship: Empower high school students to explore career pathways, gain work-based learning experiences, and prepare for postsecondary success.
Fellows serve 675 hours during the 2026–2027 year, earning a $12,500 living allowance—plus access to professional development, mentorship, and career support.
Fellowship Eligibility
- Must be a first-generation junior or senior-level college student.
- Parent/Guardian did not complete a bachelor’s degree.
- Must be currently enrolled in Rhode Island College School of Business
- Must be available to complete screening/vetting process – interview, orientation, and background check etc.
- Must satisfactorily pass the National Service Criminal History Check (NSCHC).
- Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
- Must have an interest in serving under-resourced and under-served communities, driving economic development, environmental justice and equity initiatives, and/ or creating stronger career outcomes for Rhode Island high school students.
- Must commit to completing 675 hours by September 30, 2027.
